Cocoa VS Cacao Powder 🍫

Cocoa is a cheap ingredient used in baking which is processed at a high temperature and often contains added sugar and dairy 🍰 

Cacao is processed at a low temperature which has a more bitter taste and higher nutritional value. Although being more expensive, it is high in flavanols which have antioxidant, heart-protective and anti-cancer properties. It can lower blood pressure, reduce diabetes risk, reduce inflammation and improve cognitive function 🧠 

It’s also a good source of iron, fibre, potassium and magnesium 🍫 

Raspberry Cacao Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 c Frozen Raspberries
  • 1 1/2 c Almond Milk
  • 1 scoop Vanilla Protein Powder
  • 1 heaped Tbsp Cacao Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Honey (or swap for vegan sweetener)

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Decorate with some shaved coconut, pieces of raspberry and cinnamon if desired.
